The hidden side of toothpaste 😓
You may know that most of the so-called conventional cosmetic products are composed synthetic ingredients. They are often denounced for their lack of environmental respect and their potentially toxic effect if used in combination with others and repeatedly (cocktail effect).
More than 80% of cosmetics fall into this category. Toothpastes are obviously one of them.
☢ Indeed, some conventional toothpastes contain substances that are controversial for health or the environment such as:
- titanium dioxide in nano size, suspected of being carcinogenic, weakening the immune system or even causing type 2 diabetes
- triclosan suspected of being an endocrine disruptor increasing the risk of cancer
- fluoride, also a suspected endocrine disruptor, which also disrupts the immune system.
What is the alternative?
- Homemade “DIY” toothpastes
♻ The advantages of a DIY toothpaste:
- It's economical: making your own toothpaste will be cheaper than buying it in the supermarket, few ingredients are needed and you can reuse them for other recipes.
- It's fun: for both young and old, children in particular love it. The recipes must of course be carried out under the supervision of an adult.
- We know exactly what's inside.
❕ We often use baking soda or white clay in DIY recipes. However, its use does not have to be daily otherwise it will have an action that is too abrasive for the teeth.
>> If you are curious and a fan of DIY, do not hesitate to subscribe to our workshops or opt for our do-it-yourself boxes😊
- If DIY is not your thing, opt for a natural and/or organic toothpaste, solid toothpastes in paste or powder. We have an excellent zero waste and organic toothpaste that you can order here.
And the toothbrush?
🌿 Opt for a toothbrush made from natural material to respect the environment, such as bamboo toothbrushes.
They are the ideal alternative to plastic toothbrushes. They are resistant, pleasant to use and biodegradable.

The importance of a healthy diet
Above all, it is important to have a healthy diet, neither too sweet nor too salty, health starts from the inside! By having excellent dietary hygiene, accompanied by regular tooth brushing, you will minimize the risk of tooth decay and dental plaque.
It is recommended to brush your teeth properly after each meal or at least twice a day.
So, are you going to change your toothpaste?
