How to adopt a minimalist beauty routine

A woman's confidence usually comes through her image, unfortunately studies show, that only a small percentage feel beautiful.

Having a neat and bright complexion to be able to go out without makeup is the wish of a large number of women.

They struggle to find the right products for their skin types and to clearly identify the ingredients in their beauty products.

As a result they are constantly looking for the miracle product that can immediately fix their skin problems.

The only concern is that most cosmetics contain many chemical compounds that, over time, permeate our bodies.

The multiplication of chemical ingredients in many products applied daily favors what is called the "cocktail effect" i.e. the use of several products in one's beauty routine and their persistent accumulation in our body (urine, blood, umbilical cord, breast milk...).

The consequences on health, are unfortunately not trivial as evidenced by the worrying progression of certain diseases, allergies, neurobehavioral disorders ect.

Not to mention the widespread pollution of the environment.

Why adopt a minimalist beauty routine?

To already respect the cell renewal cycle which is about 21 days.

We would therefore prefer to keep our routine for at least a month in order to let our skin get used to the chosen skincare and benefit from its active ingredients.

You should therefore choose your beauty routine as well as your cosmetics according to your skin's needs and the season.

When you are in the process of finding the right product for your skin type, make sure you don't use too many products or you may suffer from irritation, pimples, dryness.

It is therefore wiser to consume more in quality and less in quantity and to move toward products the most natural possible, suitable for your skin's type.

Be careful and avoid falling into the trap of presentation tricks (Green washing) to make it look more natural without actually being natural.

How to adopt a minimalist beauty routine

By asking yourself the right questions. What does my skin need, is this product really necessary for me, if so, does it contain ingredients that are beneficial for my skin and the environment...before then, adopting the essential gestures.

1) Know your skin type

The type of skin depends on your genetic heritage. As for the condition of the skin, it evolves throughout life: seasons, external aggressions, health, lifestyle hygiene, unsuitable care etc.

The first step is to identify your skin type and then adapt your cosmetic products.

2) The essential gestures

The application of a moisturizing and or nourishing care allows to maintain the role of protective barrier played by the epidermis, to preserve its physical qualities notably its elasticity and contributes to delay the appearance of the signs of aging.
In addition to the type of skin, there are the notions of sensitivity or hydration of the skin. Therefore, one can have a combination or oily skin type while having a dehydration or sensitivity problem.

Generally favor light, fresh textures for oily skin and richer skin care products for others.

Before choosing your products well, simply ask yourself 3 questions:

> Is my skin sensitive and reactive to the products I use?

If it is sensitive, you should choose gentle products that are not very active and opt for protective care: jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil, Coconut oil and Shea butter.

> Is my skin comfortable and well hydrated?

If your skin is dehydrated, tight and the complexion is dull. You must then adapt your diet, drink more and nourish the skin with fatty acids: evening primrose and borage oil but also argan and rose hip oil.

> Is my skin sick?

In case of eczema, proven acne or other dermatoses, you should consult a specialist and opt for a tailored treatment. Some products can help you such as essential oils combined with clay and vegetable oils of jojoba, black cumin, shea butter... it all depends on the pathology of course.

 3) Use the night to care for your skin: if during the day the skin reacts mainly to protect itself from external aggressions at night, it takes advantage of it to recover and repair itself. Studies show that the multiplication of epidermal cells is optimal at 1am! Cream, vegetable oil or mask, find the products that suit you best by testing them over a period of several weeks.

  4) Never miss the make-up removal step: makeup removal is a step that should never be skipped in your beauty routine! It allows the skin to breathe better without getting cluttered with impurities accumulated during the day.

To remove your makeup, forget about all kinds of cosmetics. Just put a few drops of a vegetable oil of your choice ( coconut, argan, hazelnut…) on a washable wipe. You can finish your makeup removal with a floral water of your choice.

To remember:

Cosmetics should not create new needs for the skin. Limiting the number of products and gestures necessary to maintain healthy skin is fundamental to avoid the traps of marketing.

What the skin basically needs is a good cleansing/makeup removal, hydration, to be nourished and of course protection against external aggressions.

By following this, you will use noble products, effective for your skin and without hurting your wallet.
