Body, Age and Confidence: Redefining Beauty
And what if we redefined beauty? 🥰
Hello everyone!
Today, let's talk about a topic that affects us all: beauty. But not the perfect beauty we see in magazines or on social media, not this one. The one we sometimes endure, with its dictates, its injunctions, and its unrealistic filters. This is precisely what the film The Substance by Coralie Fargeat brilliantly denounces.
In this thriller at the crossroads of horror and social satire, we follow Elizabeth Sparkle (played by Demi Moore), an actress who loses everything because of her age. Desperate, she transforms with the help of a miracle serum to become Sue, a younger version of herself (played by Margaret Qualley). Except that… spoiler alert: it all turns into a nightmare. 😱
Why are we talking about it?
Because this film goes beyond fiction. It sheds light on a really tangible reality : this obsession with youth and perfection that drives some women to transform themselves, sometimes at the cost of their identity. Like Elizabeth, we end up losing sight of who we really are, crushed by impossible expectations.
A beauty to consume
In our society, the body becomes a product: modified, enhanced, and sometimes… consumed. The Substance pushes this idea to the extreme, but it makes us wonder: what if we stopped seeing beauty as a perfection to be achieved?
And if true beauty...
… it was to accept our singularities, our stories, our imperfections? To see the body as an ally, and not as an enemy who need to be reshaped.
On the other hand, the idea is not to encourage you to neglect taking care of yourself. But rather to embrace the idea that your body is a refuge to cherish every day. Exercise and a balanced diet will help you nurture a love for yourself, which reflects on your state of mind.
Taking care of yourself also means using good products that are suitable for your skin type. It is not limited to food but also extends to the products you use for your skin or hair.
My advice 😉
The goal is not to moralize, but to make a step-by-step transition. We seek to achieve a new positive Mindset. In everyday life, this involves complimenting myself, trusting myself, and pleasing myself. Everything you undertake is positive as long as it resembles YOU. You are the engine but also the destination. What I mean by that is, if I love myself, then I have already reached the end of the journey; the rest is just a bonus. Learning to be less hard on myself... forgiving myself, giving myself time. It may seem harmless but it will change your life.
Be satisfied to be you!
So, the next time you look in the mirror, think about it: you already are a work of art. 💖
Tell me, does that resonate with you?
